The Hypernotes Collection
The current economic position has many parallels to that of a century ago, before the outbreak of hyperinflation in Europe during the global economic crisis. The finest illustration of this dark era is the printed notes and the growth in their written values.
The NFTs in this collection serve as a digital equivalent to the physical notes that are carefully preserved at Hypernotes. This distinguishes each NFT from other collections.
Hypernotes serve as a memory of this era and a lesson that history may be repeated – most notably via Russia’s current position and the conflict in Ukraine.
The whole concept is a synthesis of art, social science, economics, history, and critical thought that aims to pique interest in the processes that precipitated the catastrophe a century ago.
The initial series consists of 48 one-of-a-kinds NFTs, each of which is based on and connected to an original banknote securely stored at Hypernotes. All banknotes are unused and unaltered in any form.
Additional series are currently being developed and will be added shortly. At the time, just three further series are planned.
At its inception, this series has four entirely distinct NFTs, each based on and tied to the original artwork.
Numerous artists adapt the original banknotes into one-of-a-kind works of art. Each series represents the creator’s perspective on a certain period in history and its fates.
Additional series are currently being developed and will be added shortly.
We created this unique series in response to the current situation in Ukraine. As was the case more than a century ago, a horrific conflict is raging in the heart of Europe, with implications that are not even slightly predictable.
Along with the horrific suffering of the Ukrainian people, the economic implications will be felt by everyone, and Russia, like Germany, is already experiencing massive inflation.
This series was developed by a variety of artists who took on the subject.
THE REAL NOTES - CONNECTED & SAVE
Along with the NFT, you acquire the original banknote or artwork.
Because NFT often changes ownership, we have chosen to keep all certificates secure with us. However, any owner is welcome to visit us and check their original.
The notes span the period from the German Kaiserreich through the Weimar Republic’s hyperinflation in 1923. They are all authentic and untouched, except for the pieces of art.
All of the banknotes we convert into one-of-a-kind NFTs have been in our family for generations. My father left it to me and shared several anecdotes about his parents and their experiences during the inflationary period, which inspired me to begin this endeavor.
